Even though those bumps on penis (also known as pearly penile papules) aren’t actually STDs, they are often confused for herpes or genital warts.  In fact it’s very likely that when a girl sees penis bumps she will probably confuse them with STDs.  There are many types of treatments available for pearly penile papules but more often than not they are ineffective.  Freezing and CO2 treatments are some of the documented possibilities for treatment but the success rate isn’t very high.  Since pearly penile papules aren’t viruses, they don’t respond to the typical treatments that help clear up herpes or warts.

Freezing is a painful method, and sometimes involves scarring.  The penis is lowered to extremely low temperatures until blisters form under the bumps.  Then they crust up and essentially fall off.  This often results in dried up skin and irritation, and no long lasting results.

Another common treatment is CO2 laser treatment.  This is an actual surgical procedure and can cost upwards of $3000.  As with any surgery this carries serious risks and one must weigh the pros and the cons of undergoing such an operation.bumps-on-penis-pearlypenilepapulesremoval

You should not attempt to simply pick them off by yourself.  Not only does this not address the underlying problem but it also runs the risk of infection and scarring.  Plus this is a very sensitive area of skin so pain would likely accompany any such attempts.

There is only one at-home treatment for this condition, called pearly penile papules removal.  It doesn’t involve creams or ointments, and you don’t have to worry about any embarrassing doctor’s appointments to help clear up your condition.
